Open sushi at @shintosushi Hazmieh branch – September 2018
Total score 6.9/10
Although shinto is one of our favorite places and had given it an earlier score of 8.2/10 at Mar Mkhayel branch for set menu, the open sushi at Hazmieh experience was not as expected. Daily for 27$ until further notice.
Cons:
Starting with the cons, although the salmon looked and was very fresh, the type of salmon fish served was not tasty: very oily, and a bit “fishy” (مزنخة). We did talk to the manager and he explained that the kind of fish happened to be different and too oily. Would’ve expected not to serve the fish after noticing that. And the smoked salmon had a bad taste.
Pros:
It was obvious from the color and shape that the salmon was very fresh, which is expected from shinto. The crazy crab salad was very tasty. One sashimi order is allowed and variation is good. The service was fast and manager was friendly.
Conclusion:
it is an open sushi recommended to try, and probably that time was amongst exceptions. But such fish type shouldn’t be served to maintain shinto’s image, as the manager seemed to know the issue.
